Digital Me's

The MetaVerse is upon us.  The Facebook/Meta version of the MetaVerse is a half-immersion in the digital sea. The Elon Musk Neuralink chip will be the full-immersion into a Meta-Dreamworld.  Both need Avatars.  I went through the popular Avatar generators and made some digital “Me’s”. Below is what fell out :)

Firstly, I really like the Unreal MetaHuman Creator.  The creations look so real. So human, so flawed.  I can't get a full likeness, but I can get kinda close to the "real me" (but it just looks way older).  This "real me" will be important because I don’t always want to be rocking into virtual work meetings as my rainbow vomiting unicorn avatar.

Below are 2 kinda close to real-life meta humans (maybe a 70% match). One is me. The work flow is to import these fully rigged models into Blender and adjust them to match better.  They are quick to make.

Meta (AKA Facebook) has a great Avatar generator. The result is a closish match to the real person. Close but not a digital twin. I liked the result as it allows for age lines and freckles. Two things that make me :)

Another decent avatar solution is from “Ready Player Me”.  These Avatars offer a customisation which gets them looking a bit like the person.  The person without the human baggage, scars and wrinkles. They are a lower resolution solution than “Meta Humans”, but both are really nice Avatars.  You can export these Avatar to .glb file and further customise.  But check the “Ready Player Me” terms as it might infringe on their copyright.  My Avatar is below. The red eyes match IRL.
